Dancing Dreams - The End Is Here

It was the day of competition and he was worried and tensed about what would happen of their performance. He was not sure about himself, his artificial limb was making him feel more depressed. He was living in a feeling of despair. Shradda came in and took his hand in hers and said “You will have to believe in yourself Rohit like we believe in you. It’s life, you will face so many hills and valleys. Have faith in yourself and on your dance dear. I know we will rock the stage. We are with you don’t worry.”

Rohit, Shraddha and Mrs. Gupta left for the auditorium. Rohit and Shraddha entered the door where only participants were allowed while Mrs. Gupta kept looking at him until he got disappear behind those red walls. Mrs. Gupta was crying not because there was a risk but because she was worried about his dream. She knew he would be broken more if he failed today.

As Mrs. Gupta took her seat in audience the show began. She had gone deaf ears to what anchor was saying and blind eyes to other performances. Mrs. Gupta was praying for him. Anchor announced his name and she were awakened from what she was thinking and praying.  He was about to come on the stage to show everyone his talent, his passion and his life. He had waited for this day from a very long time and the day, the time was here, right in his hands.

He was standing at the centre of stage where spotlight was on his head and everyone’s eyes were on him. Mrs. Gupta hooted all the best and started cheering him up by reciting the mantra of his name. Shraddha hugged him and wished him luck at the backstage. Music was started and he was standing still like a frozen animal.

When he climbed the stage a feeling of nostalgia hit him. His mind started recalling all those moments when he used to dance with both his legs. How her mom had saved every penny for his international dance academy. And how Shradda used to teach him every night. He was that involved in this feeling that he forgot to hear the music. He did not move his body for fifteen seconds and Mrs. Gupta started crying again. Shraddha was yelling “Start moving… start moving…” from backstage as she was supposed to join him after a minute but he scarcely heard her.

"He is dancing” someone from the audience yelled and everyone in the audience started chanting his name. Mrs. Gupta looked up with her wet eyes. Rohit danced the whole track without any falling down or without missing any beat. When he heard the music and when he came out from the feeling of nostalgia he had got the same power to dance. He remembered each and every step which Shraddha had taught him. He danced like a living creature. He expressed the sorrow through his contemporary dance like a normal person could. He had won the part of his life. He now had reason to live and reason to die for – Dance. They both danced like birds flying freely in the sky and he was feeling lucky to have someone like Shraddha in his life. As soon as the music paused and confetti of colorful papers blasted his lips touched her while his hand was supporting her waist in comely embrace. "I love you Shraddha" his voice was no louder than a whisper this time. The Colosseum was canoodled with an applause and chattering of claps.

They didn’t come first and neither they got any cash prize for standing third in the competition but he had won something more precious than certificates, shields and cash prizes and that was his dance and the best love.
